Join Our Volunteer Team

At Pine Tree Hospice, we firmly believe that volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. Your dedication and compassion are essential to the meaningful work we do. As a volunteer with us, you have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve. Whether you have a few hours to spare or wish to become a regular part of our team, we value your contributions.

Direct Care Volunteers

These volunteers visit individuals in homes and facilities. They may transport people to appointments, offer respite, check in with a phone call, do light housekeeping, go grocery shopping, play cards, and go for rides. In our rural area, many individuals are isolated, and a visit from a volunteer is often the high point in their week. Because we are a non-medical hospice, a volunteer can serve the same client for months or years.

Indirect Volunteers

Indirect volunteers are those who help with events, fundraise, sit on committees and the Board of Directors. These people help move our organization forward with their new ideas and skills from jobs past and present. Each volunteer brings their individual interests and skills that strengthen Pine Tree Hospice.

Grief Support Volunteers

Specially trained volunteers work as Bereavement Facilitators for those in support groups, as well as help with resources and plan educational offerings. Bereavement Facilitators can also work 1:1 if the need arises.

Training

State mandated training means that all volunteers learn about Hospice Philosophy, Ethics, and the difference between medical and non-medical needs. Direct Care volunteers will spend 20 hours in the classroom, and Bereavement Facilitators have additional training.

Testimonials

“[I] have given the client a regular familiar face and someone to talk and laugh with. [This helps the] caregivers have time off to go to their own appointments, do errands themselves or to just have a much-needed break and knowing their loved ones are being cared for.”

“What I received from Pine Tree Hospice far exceeded anything I imagined. I learned so much about how people experience death and grief, I learned about myself, and Pine Tree Hospice has reached out to me and helped me as I sat with ill and dying clients. Pine Tree Hospice cared for me in my grief when my clients died. Pine Tree Hospice is 100% caring.”
